‘Help, my rescue cat loves Shrek’: Person adopts unique shelter cat and performs Shrek-tacular renovations to make her scaredy-cat feel purrfectly at home

Parents of hooman children constantly moan and grumble about the obsession their children have with the latest Disney releases. Protesting that they shall not be subjected to another round of the same movie trilogy for the hundredth time. However, what you might not know is that they do this not only because they are sick of watching the same movie over and over, but because it is one part of cat pawrenthood that they know we will never get to experience, thus making us that little bit less of a pawrent in their eyes.

Well, all that has just changed with this curious tale of a rescue cat whose favorite comfort movie turned out to be Shrek, and who would only come out of her hiding place when Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers would take to the silver screen. This resulted in a 24/7 viewing room dedicated to the Shrek trilogy which plays all day and night alongside several plushies and cardboard cut-outs of characters from the movie. Hooman pawrents can no longer say a thing about cat pawrents. Find us the hooman pawrent who changes and dedicates a whole room for their child's obsession.

  • Well this is quite the conundrum to be in. hooman parents often lord it over us feline pawrents that we have it easy for the fact that we do not have to put up with the inane repetition of Disney movies all day long. But low and behold, we not have that as well. So maybe that means we are one step closer to being able to irrefutably call our cats our biological children.

  • Is it not just a classic to try and get your child (hooman or feline) to try something new by making it as similar to the thing they love and tricking them into it. Obviously, this cat child is much smarter than a hooman child of equivalent age and will not be duped into any silliness related to being given the old switcheroo.

    At first, she spent all day lin. the Skrek room, but now she comes out in the morning and follows me around while I change, make breakfast, brush my teeth, and start work. Then she goes and has her Skrek time.

    This seems like a good fix! I was overwhelmed before, and didn't really think of any of the obvious solutions. I was also scared that any change in the Shrek routine would cause her to retreat and stop eating again.

    I was worried that once she got used to the Shrek room, she would get territorial, but she actually comes to me when I open the door, and welcomes me as I intrude on her Shrek time to play with her or feed her.
